Finding Fulfilment through Prioritizing Bliss

As a high-achiever, I have spent decades mastering doing. I had achievements both professionally and later athletically on a pedestal that I use to define my success.

This led to rushing around from one thing to the next, overproducing, and ultimately to burnout.

I remember judging but maybe deep down being jealous of other entrepreneurs that prioritized their mental and emotional well-being overproduction, but it turns out that my fulfilment actually does reside with prioritizing bliss.

When we prioritize production over everything else, we are often so reactive, busy and rushing around missing out on precious moments throughout our days.

I remember being so reactive with emails, text messages and phone calls that I allowed it to interrupt any present moment that I was experiencing. Let’s say I stopped for a moment to be in nature, if a text came through I would stop and immediately answer. At the time I thought being so accessible to the outside world was a good thing, but I didn’t realize it wasn’t good for my emotional health.

To my surprise when I prioritize any sort of stillness, whether that be a walk in the park, meditation, or time alone in the car with no distraction I feel fulfilled. When you are giving from overflow, everyone benefits. This bliss is felt by my loved ones, my clients, and the collective at large.

So, to begin undoing from worshipping busy to prioritizing bliss, start small. You can start to really focus on HOW you are doing the task in front of you. Are you rushing, using or feeling pressure or control? Or are you intentionally slowing down, trying to come from love, gratitude, and presence?

When you take a shower, can you slow down and really take time to wash? Feel the warm water on your face vs. hurrying it up to get it done?

Who are you being when you run your morning meeting at work?

Are you open, collaborative and honest? Or are you just rushing the agenda items to check them off your to-do list?

When you are eating lunch, how are you doing it?

I invite you to do it slowly so that you can savor it and find some gratitude for it.

Like anything we don’t want to strive for perfection because trust me, I too get lost in the hustle and find myself rushing to the next thing. But when I become aware, I try hard to slow it all way down, breathe, and really receive all that is happening in that moment.

Use rushing as a cue to remind you to slow down, breathe, and come back to the present moment. Wherever you are roll those shoulders back, relax your eyes, breathe and be here now. Then we can move into prioritizing what makes you feel good, blissed-out even so that you can be filled with love and presence instead of pressure and control.

If you know that you want to feel more fulfilled and satisfied during the day but struggle to let go of the business, I would love to connect with you here.

More to come on these juicy topics. Have an amazing week everyone.
