Idea Babies
I read some fascinating advice in an article in Business Insider by Justine Musk who was formerly married to Elon Musk, founder of PayPal as well as the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX. She was asked about what it takes to become a billionaire, and her answer really surprised me.
One of her powerful recommendations was to choose something unique and helpful that no computer could replicate: become a master of that potential, then to choose a second thing and become the master of it. Put in other words, her advice was to combine two potentials.
“Introduce hot ideas to each other, so they can have idea sex and make idea babies that no one has seen before”.
This blew my mind because combining two passions leads to parabolic energy and creation.
I started to consider teachers and business owners in my community that have done this. A yoga instructor who is also a musician immediately came to mind. This instructor combines her love of yoga with her passion and talent in music. In her yoga classes, she sometimes plays her cello while she sings, chants, and instructs yoga. This unique sound and movement combination create an experience in yoga like no other.
Combining 2 talents can create magic
My favorite spinning teacher and studio owner combines several unique abilities to create a powerfully emotional experience on a spin bike. She is a vulnerable storyteller who is able to masterfully put together a playlist while simultaneously creating a community of riders who flock to her class that feels more like a concert. No wonder there is a waitlist.
So my biggest takeaway and recommendation is for you to consider creating your own idea babies. Are there two ideas, two talents, two original offerings that you can combine in a unique way to surprise and delight your audience? Energy expands exponentially when combined with more passion and action.
Think outside the box with the intention of serving your community in a special way, and I guarantee there will be a line out the door for your offering.
