Reflecting on 2019. Plus, My Word of the Year for 2020!

During this strange vortex between Christmas and New Year’s, I have been reflecting on the lessons learned in 2019. I believe strongly in having a feedback system where you evaluate where you’ve been, where you are, and where you are going in order to continue to grow.  So while I encourage others to do this regularly, this time of year is especially convenient and offers an obvious clean point for reflection and planning.

At the beginning of the year, I picked the word ‘Allow’ to epitomize 2019, and I now realize that it took a full year for the deeper meaning of this word to reveal itself. My natural tendency is to hustle; to push forward to get results.I love to set goals and work hard to achieve them. In the gym, I am used to pushing hard to get results, and I see this same pattern in my entrepreneurial journey.

Last year, I burned myself out in this process of taking on too much, and this year, I was drawn to the idea of not pushing so hard and, instead, allowing things to develop organically. This led me down some interesting new paths and insights that I will share here with you today.

In my pursuit to allow, I learned the power in sometimes leaning back vs. always pushing forward to get results.  This led me to uncover my Human Design as a ‘Projector' and how powerful it can be to work with my human design vs. against it. On this path, I have met some amazing coaches who have helped me build my trust: trust in myself, my skills, and my universe. This has been quite a challenge for someone who can be quite impatient!

If you missed my post on how magic happens at the finish line,

catch up here!

I have also learned how important it is to go all the way through the finish line. When you are impatient like me, sometimes there can be an inclination to pull the plug too quickly; to give up on a launch before it is 100% over; to get discouraged when you are off to a slow start in a race. I have seen magic at the finish line this year, and I encourage all of you to see whatever project you are working on to the end before fully evaluating its success.

For example, this year I did not truly understand what my word of the year truly meant until Dec. 27th. It took a full year of investigation, growth, and a willingness to be patient for me to understand it. Previously I would have rushed through and missed the lesson. When I lean back with full trust in myself and in the universe, while leading myself emotionally, then I allow all the results to rush in. When I push sometimes I create results, but they weren’t the results that would have benefited me the most had I been patient and let things unfold naturally.

Spend a few minutes celebrating even the smallest achievements and you'll keep momentum going and manifest more!

Lastly, I have come to really appreciate the significance of celebrating. I often see my clients achieve massive success and do very little feeling happy before moving on to the next big goal. Celebration is a party thrown in the name of gratitude. When you achieve something great, have a dance party, jump up and down, toast to it. You will manifest more this way.

Once your project is 100% over then I highly recommend using my feedback system of examining what worked, what didn’t, and what do you want to differently the next time around. This has been a game-changer for me and my clients. If you don’t evaluate, then you really don’t get to see what is working for you and what isn’t. When you do you can make changes and subtle tweaks to get the results you crave.

So I am going all the way through the finish line of this year, and all the way through this time. I will evaluate, and then I will celebrate. I hope you join me!!
