Fall Reflections
“Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn.” ~Elizabeth Lawrence
The more I make a presence and living in feminine energy more of a priority I recognize that I appreciate the seasons more. When I was in my all-out hustle-go-go energy, I would notice the seasons in passing, but there was no depth or reflection.
This fall, I have been really taking the time to notice the colorful leaves changing and falling from the trees. The orange and yellow hues have been lighting up the morning sky, and I have been reflecting more on the deeper meaning of this season. Autumn is the season of letting go/releasing what is no longer serving you. Some of the trees in my backyard are already entirely without their leaves, which served as a powerful metaphor for me and what I perhaps want to let go of this season.
In addition, this season is reminding me of the impermanence of things. The trees don’t stay the same throughout the year, nor do I or anyone else. My children are growing up fast, and our relationship continues evolving. As part of my reflection, I have wanted to create more intentionality around the quality of our relationship as they continue to blossom into older teenagers.
Fall also brings up more darkness. It has been getting darker earlier and reminded me of some of the shadow work I do with my clients. Often, we don’t want to look at shadow aspects of ourselves and similarly dread the darker evenings and mornings, but often it is where we find the most healing.
When I lived in warmer regions, I tended to feel guilty for resting and indulging in downtime as I was used to taking advantage of the few sunny days we had here. Still, the colder seasons do promote more time for rest, reflection, and connection.
So, I invite you to join me in spending more quality time loving the season you are in and reflecting on some of its deeper meanings. What would you like to let go of this fall season? What would you like to pay some attention to and focus on? Are there people you would enjoy being more present for in your life?
If you would like some support in this area, I am more than happy to work with you on it. Don’t hesitate to schedule a time to connect. Happy pumpkin spice & apple cider season.
Warmly,
-Melanie
