Decision-Making Based On Your Intuition

For most of my adult life, I have relied heavily on my analytical brain and the opinions of others to make major decisions.

I, very rarely checked in with my own inner authority to make these important life decisions from where to go to college, what career I should pursue or to what relationships I wanted to stay in. At the time I was ignorant of the science and power behind intuition and quickly brushed it off as a flighty or unimportant aspect of decision making.

Over the past 2 years, I have developed a consistent meditation practice that has opened up a powerful connection to my inner world, which includesmy intuition. I was never in the practice of checking in with my intuition, preventing me to connect to this inner wisdom that really did know whether something was right for me or not.

As my spiritual interests and studies have increased, I have been so shocked by how accurate and important intuition really is.

I can still remember when I was in graduate school studying psychology, my professor told me that “when in doubt rely on your intuition when it comes to helping your client or knowing what to say” and wondered why we didn’t spend more time talking about intuition in general then.

Don’t worry, we will dive deeper into the various definitions of intuition next week. But for today’s blog, I want you to look at intuition as the ability to know something without knowing how you know it. In addition, it is developing a connection with your own inner watcher and looking to it for answers and wisdom.

You see we are all intuitive, it is a naturally occurring skill that we can harness with some practice.

Everyone’s intuition feels differently in their body and I have had some profound moments tapping into mine and following it without the need to overanalyze and ask my loved ones for their opinions. I have a splenic authority when it comes to decision making, which means I get a quick hit-a ping, which indicates if something is in alignment for me or not. It’s so quick, that if I don’t tune in I miss it and run the risk of not using it to make my decisions.

“Intuitive development isn’t about learning how to become intuitive It’s about learning how to make the unconscious intuitive ability you already have conscious”

- Heather Alice Shea

We are all born with this amazing internal GPS, yet sadly many of us are not taught anything about it. We had a fair share of experiences where you just know something isn’t right for you, even though there is nothing rational you can point to why you might be feeling this way at that moment.

Finding it, understanding it, and relying on it has had a profound impact on my life and my relationship with myself which I would love to help you develop this special connection as well.

If you are interested in learning more about your intuition and how to develop a practice of understanding it to make your decisions, I invite you to schedule a connection call with me.

Have a great week everyone!
