We Owe it to Our Ancestors to Evolve
We each come from such unique backgrounds filled with timeless wisdom, stories, and insights from our ancestors.
I am a first-generation Polish American whose ancestors endured the horrors of World War II, communism, and now a transition to a more democratic society. The other side of the family came from Germany to the hills of Kentucky and eventually settled in upstate New York. Many of my gifts and freedoms rest on their sacrifices and hard work. As I have been tapping into my passions and purpose, I honor and connect with them.
You may be wondering what this means or how it's done. It's simple, really. I truly believe that one of the most powerful ways we can honor our ancestors is to fulfill our purpose on this planet. For me, this means that as I work on my relationship with myself, my work in this world, and my relationship with money, I connect with my ancestors to uncover what hardships they endured and the lessons that came from them.
My grandparents and great-grandparents had to survive the great depression, a world war, and poverty. Additionally, gambling addictions plagued one side of my family so I try to understand what drove those behaviors and the lessons I can learn from both their successes and failures.
We can all draw incredible inspiration from the resilience and innovation of our ancestors regardless of the individual circumstances that they may have faced. For example, many of our ancestors were doing their best to simply survive the conditions they were living in, leaving little to no room for growth and expansion. They did not have access to the internet, or loads of transformational teachings at their fingertips found on YouTube, social media, and all of the other places we can instantly access information. Yet despite that fact, they still found a way to survive.
By living up to your full potential, you can help heal and honor your lineage. Our ancestors can be our allies and our guides even though we don't get to have a physical relationship with them. We get to learn from them in the instances where they've shown us what not to do, and we get to be inspired by their hard work and sacrifice as we work to find our purpose. I owe it to my ancestors to take full advantage of all the wisdom and gifts that they left behind to honor them and do right in this world. I recognize that as a privilege and I strive to leave a legacy for the generations that come after me, hopefully leaving a positive imprint for them.
I encourage all of you to take some time to connect to those who came before you and remember that fulfilling your life’s purpose will honor them and can even contribute towards the healing of ancestral wounds. If you would like some additional support around this or with any other issue that you might be facing, let’s schedule a connection call to chat about how I can help. We owe it to our ancestors to evolve and grow into the happiest and healthiest versions of ourselves!
Have a great weekend, everyone!
