Befriend Your Emotions and Bring Out the Best in You

Human beings just want to be seen and heard and I think that's why therapy and coaching can be so powerful, because sometimes people don't have relationships in their life that they feel completely seen and heard, in a very loving light.

It's super powerful to be seen and understood, even if it's just by one person. That is an incredibly transformative part of a relationship to experience.

That comes back to the relationship, the trust between the coach and the therapist, I always approach my client's issues with compassion and curiosity because it can be really vulnerable to talk about areas that you think are not confident about. I think therapy and coaching can really provide a powerful way to do that.

As the relationship develops, and that trust deepens, people will dive into what's underneath the surface and be able to share what's going on at a deeper level.

In the coaching realm, I also love the ability to create programs and be really creative. It kind of brings up my creativity because there are different strategies and therapy for each of us. So that really gets me to create any kind of program I want and call in the people that really ignite me.

Being a coach and therapists, we also have to have high standards of taking care of ourselves so that we show up in the best way possible for our clients. It's kind of what you're talking about with guilt and worry, to me are those emotions that can help if we are doing something wrong, that is not in integrity with us, but often, we indulge in those feelings, and they don't really help us move forward at all, and worry can be one of those that kind of really doesn't help us do anything. I think taking care of ourselves is equally as important as serving our clients.

One of the most common topics that come up inevitably with any client is anxiety. Some people think that it is an intense emotion for them to wrestle with. What I really help my clients do is allow actively accept these big emotions, like anxiety. Because most people, myself included, want to run from it, push it down, you know, just really, or sometimes even freak out about it.

Nobody really taught me how to make space and make room for those uncomfortable emotions or how to allow them to process through so that they didn't get the better of me and shut me down. When you have this big intense - what we label as a negative emotion, what we usually do, as a kid, I just sort of stuffed it or internalized and pushed it down. That held me back from some things because then I would avoid situations where I thought that that might occur.

So one of the cornerstones of my work is helping people actively accept, and allow big emotions, like anxiety, so that they don't ratchet up and turn into panic and turn into some really intense feelings.

When you start fighting, numbing and running away from that intense emotion, it can wreak havoc on you. Getting some guidance from a professional coach or therapist can be transformative. If you struggle with that, I invite you to reach out to me so we can start working on a strategy that fits you.

I just have a desire from the mental health side and from the creative/intuitive side is to help people that might be suffering kind of silently. My heart really goes out to people that are suffering in that way. I’m really happy to see that more and more people are coming forward and sharing their struggles with people.

Giving yourself the permission to feel all those intense emotions creates a safe place for it to become something that will truly serve you.

Learn how your emotions will process and bring out the best in you!

Have a wonderful week!
